This whopper of a total eclipse is very short yet very potent! In most of the U.S., except Alaska and the tip of the northwest, the Moon has set or is setting during the eclipse. Across the Pacific and eastern Asia the full effect of the short, five minute totality will reign. The westernmost parts of eastern Asia will see the eclipsed Moon rising. Rising or setting, the Moon looms larger and will be quite a magical sight as the eclipse proceeds.
This is the culminating Full Moon, following the ‘super Moon” solar eclipse on March 22 Equinox. How has it been going for you since then, as the storyline changes, personally and collectively? That last New Moon followed closely on the heels of the last of the seven exact squares between Uranus and Pluto, punctuating the far-reaching changes in global consciousness and systems. This potent Full Moon eclipse continues that theme, as it plugs right into this last peak of the Uranus-Pluto square—with profound impact. More of the old story is rapidly coming to a close. Eclipses serve to hasten the end, especially a double dose of total eclipses. Systems continue to break down, which is really just what we need in order to make a fresh start.
We pass yet another milestone in the global renaissance, bringing another surge of surprises, new technologies, public uprisings and other dramatic developments to our planetary system. What initiatives are you called upon to implement? Jupiter gives a big boost of creative confidence, especially when it turns to forward motion on the 8th. Be careful about overdoing, overindulging or pushing your agenda in an obnoxious way. When we are stressed, we don’t always behave well. Take that into account when working with others. Let’s cooperate. We need to keep up with each other during times of such rapid developments. Attention is on relationships, as we seek to clarify our own sense of direction, whether to go solo or seek partnership in life and business. Some switch-ups are inevitable.
A total eclipse ripples through the system for up to a year. Don’t drop the ball on this one. Take courage and keep on with your own quest for better days ahead. We need to take care of ourselves and each other, attending to practical matters that sustain us in the long run. Wishful thinking does not get us anywhere, rather bogs us down in muddy ruts. Keep your ear tuned to fresh thought streams that excite you.
The Sun/Uranus/South Node stand opposite the eclipsed Full Moon/North Node. These Nodes of the Moon create a karmic line of destiny. Also called the Dragon Tail and the Dragon Head, for richer mythic meaning, these points denote the intersecting paths of Sun and Moon, signaling eclipse points. The South Node is a given, where we have been, what is coming through from some, possibly ancient, past. The electrical charge of the Sun that comes our way on the solar wind, may be supercharged by solar flares, interstellar energy, and/or galactic input from the center of the Milky Way. Already extraordinary aurora are lighting up the sky. It is a time of destiny. Uranus has been conjunct the South Node for several months, inserting new initiatives, inventions and revolutionary verve appearing in strong bursts of grass roots activity. We feel something exciting emerging from ancient depths and evolutionary imperatives.
The North Node stretches us to fulfill this destiny. If you want to ride the Dragon, it is good to be at its head, rather than its tail, like the enlightened worm rider in the Dune novels, or the Dragon Riders of Pern series. Also the compassionate goddess Kwan Yin, who brings the elixir of life. In Libra, relationship and collaboration is implied. These are being renegotiated, as partnerships split up and reform, changing global and personal affiliations and relationships on many levels. A strong sense of life force integrity in Aries fuels decisions that result in these changing dynamics. Choices confront us, at such a threshold of destiny. The call to integrity may be misunderstood and co-opted by the ego into trigger finger disruption and eruptions of violence. Or we align with the higher mind, generating innovative, win-win ideas that solve centuries-old dilemmas. Be willing to cooperate from the integrity of your heart, your center of gravity. As we hold to the center, we act as the eye of the hurricane, atmospheric or astral, directing its path.
It is no cosmic coincidence that this total Eclipse snuffs out the light of the Moon on the eve of Easter Sunday, inevitably heightening our awareness of death and rebirth. What does resurrection mean to you in such times are we are all experiencing? It is as if we are scanning the horizon for the something coming around the mountain that will motivate us to get moving. We don’t have long to wait. Pluto, god of destruction and redemption, contributes its relevant, nuclear/atomic power to the cause, standing between the Sun and Moon and between the Nodes of the Moon, as a fulcrum that tips the Scales toward regressive anarchy or increasing harmony and justice.
MERCURY, full of bright ideas in Aries, is poised to enter the fray in the aftermath of this eclipse, engaging with the Pluto-Uranus dynamic on the 7-8th. Keep your ears out for major news and think deeply about current developments and potentials in your own situation.
As if in agreement with these recent eclipses, SATURN is retrograde as of mid-month, having taken us into new Sagittarian territory. We have some clues about where we might be heading, but can move no further until we take a deeper look at “what’s working and what’s not,” and clear up another layer of “stuff.” We have through the summer to take care of such business and be ready to move along on the great adventure of the next couple of years.
MARS, after rushing headlong and stirring things up to fever pitch in Aries, is now in Taurus, as is VENUS. These planets in earth sign Taurus steady the energies and produce outcomes, worthy ones according to the best case scenario. Longterm financial issues are at stake and much has been going on beneath the headlines to redesign economic and associated political frameworks as per the relentless, inevitable transition of power through the Pluto in Capricorn era (through 2024). If you haven’t heard of the BRICS alliance, it’s about time you did. This consortium of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa has been gathering the support of most other countries in the world to redefine the value of various currencies. This has a big impact on the dollar, not necessarily in a negative way, but as an essential rebalancing act. At least this is what I gather from my dilettante interest. Anyhoo, I’m more interested in how this and other cosmic dynamics are affecting me and you—what decisions we are making, what we will say and do about it. There is no way to turn the clock back.
