FULL MOON AT 3 PISCES-VIRGO 34
February 22, 1:20pm EST, 10:20am PST, 18:20 GDT
This FULL MOON in VIRGO reflects the light of a PISCES SUN infused with heightened sensitive wavelengths from NEPTUNE and CERES. Best to get yourself organized early as the Moon soon enters Neptune’s Dreaming, which may skew reality for a few days—if not the rest of the month! Pay attention to what is most meaningful to you, advises Ceres, who alters consciousness in dream visions. With a recent change of Mercury and Venus into Aquarius, energies are freed up from the deep Capricorn pressures and rigors of this year so far. Take a breath of fresh air! What have you been contending with? And how has it been shifting in the past week?
This Moon contains a persuasive invitation to wander off into any psychic wavelength, fantasy-land, indulgence or avoidance. How functional can we be on a day-to-day basis when we are “elsewhere”? This Moon tests the fibers, the fiber optics and the strength of your rose-colored glasses. It also invites you to the Great Dreaming, where possibilities abound. There is a quality of intelligence that can manage details of the present situation while recognizing the thoughts and memories that arise along with immediate perceptions and experience. This whole “ball of wax” is gathered and synthesized like honey to discern a variety of potentials and responses. That’s a lot of alchemicalizing. This Moon cycle can enhance this wavelength of intelligence if we are willing to engage intently with an inquiring mind.
The high sensitivity of Pisces may take its toll on our bodies if we are not paying attention. Under this Full Moon fill your body with deep breaths that ground your feet into the Earth. Eat well, sleep well in order to dream well. It’s likely that we will all need more time to let the dreambody unfold. This is a watershed moon, with strong waves of healing available. We wonder yet again, “Do we dream the Earth or does the Earth dream us?”
Poetry is a Piscean/Neptunian language of the soul that translates mundane experience into another realm of meaning, weaving threads of connection into a whole cloth. We don’t see the whole design until later, if ever, as the flow of the days runs together. This Rilke poem came across my computer desk the day Venus shifted sign and spoke volumes:
She who reconciles the ill-matched threads
Of her life, and weaves them gratefully
Into a single cloth.
It’s she who drives the loudmouths from the hall
And clears it for a different celebration
Where the one guest is you.
In the softness of evening
It’s you she receives
You are the partner of her loneliness,
The unspeaking centre of her monologues.
With each disclosure you encompass more
And she stretches beyond what limits her,
To hold you.”
—From: “Rilke’s Book of Hours: Love Poems to God,” translated by Anita Barrows and Joanna Macy
And as a follow-up, a short quote came a day later:
“Being lonely is not liking the person you are alone with.”
Under a Virgo Full Moon, don’t be too hard on yourself. Self-compassion is sweet. Be as fair to yourself as you are to others. With dwarf planet CERES joining SUN and NEPTUNE, waves of compassion are circling the globe. Giving and sharing with those in need is a natural outflow. The Virgo Moon calls for practical help, especially food, to those in need. There is no need to be a martyr to any cause. Surrender to the flow that bubbles up from below with deep refreshing waters and see where you are called. Let’s take time to appreciate the extraordinary. Breathe a lot more than usual—consciously.
We’ve got a bit of a bumpier ride ahead next month, heading into eclipse season. A retrograde caution light from Saturn, followed by a red light from Mars, urge us to slow down. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, but take it one firm step at a time. Take off the rose-colored glasses as well as the blinders that skew and narrow our vision. Let’s look life straight in the face— “It is as it is”— eschewing judgments that block the expansion of our awareness. Let’s open the windows of our minds to good humor, good music, good company, and as much poetry as we can drink in.
Angelic beings strum celestial chords on their harps of gold;
Nature devas dance among herbs and flowers….
These truths are self-evident.
In FELICITY, Mary Oliver’s latest book of poetry, in the poem called “The World I Live In,” she asks,
“what’s wrong with Maybe?
You wouldn’t believe what once or
twice I have seen. I’ll just
tell you this:
only if there are angels in your head will you
ever, possibly, see one.”
