This New Moon is not just another New Moon; it’s a total eclipse of the Sun. And this is not just another day, but a brand new season—Equinox—and a brand new movie. At the farthest edge of Pisces, the New Moon eclipse turns off the Sun, closing a door as it darkens the sky. Not many of us see this eclipse— total in Norway and the Faroe Islands, partial in Europe, north/east Asia, north/west Africa and Greenland—yet its effects ripple around the globe. Moments thereafter the Moon enters Aries, followed by the Sun later in the day.
Equinox in the Hemispheres: Spring/Fall
The northern hemisphere enters its spring, the southern hemisphere its autumn:

This is a rare and exciting Equinox ushered in by a total eclipse! In Western Astrology, we think of March Equinox as the start of the sign Aries. However, the signs no longer match up with the constellations they were named for. In the Great Round of the Astrological Ages, the constellation behind the Spring Equinox sunrise changes every 2160 years, circling through the Zodiac constellations over the course of 26,000 years. Now the Spring Equinox Sun is in the overlap between the constellations of Pisces and Aquarius, announcing the imminent change of an Age. There are various thoughts about when this actually starts, and it may already have. In any case, we are clearly in the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. Make a fresh start today, for the Age, the season and the New Moon eclipse! In the words of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (who wrote that children’s classic, The Little Prince):
“A single event can awaken within us a stranger totally unknown to us.”

PLANETARY SWITCH-UPS—POWER ON
Action planet MARS conflagrated with URANUS-PLUTO just a few days ago, both still closely aligned and explosive on many levels. We are at the peak of the final exact interface between these two powerhouse planets. Now an Equinox Eclipse finishes the job, closing down and closing doors, to then throw open vistas beyond our old dreams. This is a call to action that no one can resist or deny. We are each on the precipice of major change. Mars is making a fast fiery run through Aries, charging forth, as many will, changing sign on the 31st, trying to catch up to VENUS, already reveling in “her ” own sign, TAURUS. Mars and Venus had their first meet-up in Aries on February 22, with upcoming reunions on September 1 in Leo and November 1 Virgo. It’s quite a year for lovers, spicy and dicey (Aries), emotional (Leo), and sensual (Virgo). Not everyone will make it through, but those who do are golden.
Relationships are poised between disappointment, disillusion and dissolving on one hand, and the promise of a new day and “Give me a higher love” on the other. An eclipse on the very last degree of the zodiac is clearly an ending. Inevitably there is sorrow and grief as we give up ideals, desires and attachments we have dearly cherished and longed for, and turn our faces to greet the promise of a new day and the unknown. Be a willing participant. Let’s sail forth with courage of heart and faith in cosmic compassion across the Piscean seas of this eclipse. Rational thinking is not the answer. This one must come from the heart.

MERCURY entered PISCES on Friday the 13th (A Goddess Day, Friday is named for Freya, the Norse Venus, and there are 13 Moon cycles in a year, highlighting these two strongest cosmic feminine factors.) In a few days, Mercury merges with Chiron, the Shaman. Ripples and currents of mind-bending quantum fluctuations ensue. Do you believe what you are seeing, feeling, perceiving? How many of you recall or ever read that concept “grok” from Robert Heinlein’s 1961 science-fiction novel, Stranger in a Strange Land? That book, about a man from Mars with unusual powers, turned me on to a lot of new ideas. “Grok means to understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes a part of the observed—to merge, blend, intermarry, lose identity in group experience.”
Just take care who and what you GROK with! Let’s grok Love and the really good things in life!! SUCH a new beginning, such a rare Eclipsed Equinox calls for the absolute best we can bring to it. (I’ll grok you if you grok me!) Let’s also take advantage and enjoy this potent corridor between total eclipses, from solar eclipse to lunar eclipse. The April 4 Full Moon is totally eclipsed, and plugged into the Uranus-Pluto fireworks. Is this exciting, or what? Grok it!
