FULL MOON at 17 VIRGO-PISCES
SEPTEMBER 8, 9:38pm EDT, 6:38pm PDT
SEPTEMBER 9, 2:38am GMD
Big waves of super sensitivity roll in under this Full Pisces Moon, evoking dreams, longings and lots of good art, music and poetry. Extra rest and kindness all around go a long way to quell anxieties. Clarify boundaries and evaluate priorities so the best of your attention is applied toward improvements in your life. Nature’s seasonal nuances are a real pleasure, inspiring outdoor activity.
Several planetary sign changes have taken place the first week of September. Mercury moved into fair-play Libra late on the 1st, initiating numerous conversations, negotiations and points of view. As it moves into the range of the world-shaking Uranus-Pluto Square right after the Full Moon, the Libran Scales tip in some newsworthy way. The sweep of destiny is in the news, with unprecedented mergers and liaisons changing the playing field. Some of this activity may be fueled by outspoken revolutionary spirit and by new technologies. There are likely to be public demonstrations, possibly extended ones. Some angry rabble-rousers and rogue elements will make trouble, but others dialogue for win-win solutions.
Venus entered reserved, yet sensual Virgo on the 5th, in a timely manner to contribute lovely, romantic, mystical sensations to the Full Moon. Opposite Neptune, Venus brings its rare wavelengths down to Earth. With the help of Earth Goddess Virgo, we evaluate our priorities. The best of our attention is applied to make improvements in our lives. As we love our deep and true selves more deeply and truly, we make increasingly resonant choices in our lives. We hear reverberations of distant celestial music.
A key factor at play is CHIRON, the Shape Shifter. Any ducks you thought you had in a row are liable to change position, so go with the flow. The ducks certainly are. With intuitive guidance and shaker loads of serendipity, things work out better than we originally planned. The divine will reveal itself, often with synchronistic magic. Any firm definition of reality is in question, as Chiron alters consciousness, and, especially in Pisces, melts boundaries, creating separation anxiety from our old selves. Breathe deep and relax into the spacious feeling. Take what time you need in a safe space to allow the process its time. For some time now (with Saturn in Scorpio since fall 2013), we have been shedding old behaviors, reactivity, and defense mechanisms. Use the Virgo earth energy to come back into your own skin, to the “soft animal” of your body, as Mary Oliver reminds us in her poem, so resonant under this Full Moon:
WILD GEESE
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting—
over and over announcing your place in the family of things.
Chiron is called the Wounded Healer, and can evoke despair, sadness, loneliness. We do not need to dwell in these feelings, rather allow them to expand our compassion for others, for those who are being mean, being jerks, even just bugging us. We are all interconnected on a subliminal level. Any thought or emotion we have about a person is received via the psychic internet. Such feelings as understanding, forgiveness, and compassion sent toward them others help diffuse tense undercurrents. It’s as if your angels are communicating with that person’s angels, moving the dynamic onto a plane beyond the personal. This can subconsciously relieve both parties and shift the relational dynamic. You can relax and leave it up to the higher powers. Give it a try, even in your sleep. You’ll feel better. Oh, and forgive yourself for not being perfect.
Chiron conjunct the Full Moon gives the sensation of a critical shift. With SATURN heading toward the SCORPIO finish line, we are all feeling it. With new perspectives and out-of-the-box applications, all kinds of energy open up. Are you taking the high road or the low road in dealing with problem areas? It is worth smoothing the rough waters and ruffled feathers, so that we can carry on and get things done. This can be a very productive time, in the right spirit. Everyone is feeling super sensitive, something we must take into account. Especially fire sign people (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), who have thicker skins than others, need to remember not to ride roughshod over less resilient signs. The sweep of destiny is at play, with a level of collective impatience to move things along. “Go with the flow” and “Be here now” are good mottos for this Full Moon and the next two weeks. Don’t push the river. Paddling upstream can be exhausting. Enjoy the glorious Moon as it sails through the sky, evoking dreams and longings. Moon in Pisces and Sun in Virgo can be a sweetly romantic and sensual combination.
Another poetic inspiration to live, love and dream in the light of this Full Moon:
“I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the Heart’s affections and the truth of the Imagination.” — John Keats
