Depth Astrology, AstroMythology & the Cosmic Feminine

The special Venus Star Point on October 22 led directly into this new lunar cycle, with both New and Full Moon eclipses: a partial solar eclipse on this October 25 New Moon, infused with Venus; and on November 8 a total lunar eclipse. Scorpio always brings deep-diving intensity, further enhanced by these transformational eclipse portals. Shortly following, Jupiter returns to Pisces for two months and Mars turns retrograde, extending its stay in Gemini. The Saturn/ Uranus square continues its paradigm-shifting activation.

Note: Moons & Mythos #3, with Quantum Plant Healer, Davyd Farrell, is available, discussing this New/Full Moon Eclipse cycle, an excellent accompaniment to Cosmic News. I highly recommend watching this, as our discussion includes much more than I can write in this newsletter. I am grateful to be doing these monthly videos with Davyd. See the youtube video here.

This New Moon Eclipse conjuncts Venus in the same degree! Venus is, therefore, still invisible in the light of the Sun, on the far side of the Sun, closest to the stars, not visible for several more weeks. October 22 was the Venus Star point, Venus conjunct the Sun from the far side of the Sun. At that distance, Venus moves more slowly, and continues to closely accompany the Sun on both eclipses.

A solar eclipse is either a South Node eclipse, referring to the past, or North Node eclipse, pointing us to the future. This New Moon is close to South Node, continuing the Scorpio directive to let go of the past, to shed old ways of being, memories, regrets, uncomfortable feelings that haunt us. Some memories are persistent, unresolved, unhealed. This is the deep work of this eclipse. We cleanse in the deep waters of emotional alchemy.

Did you notice above that the New Moon is at precisely 2 degrees Scorpio, no minutes? Therefore we look at the Sabian symbol for 2 degrees. Venus is at 2 degrees + 40 minutes, for which we use the Sabian symbol for 3 degrees. Let’s see what both symbols suggest about our storyline for this eclipse season.

2 Scorpio— “A Broken Bottle and Spilled Perfume”
Scents evoke emotional memories from a very primal place. This is a call to emotional alchemy, changing our feelings from the inside out, stimulated by the spilled perfume. What is gone, we cannot have back again, though it may take some time for such a ‘scented’ memories to dissipate and to process through all that is evoked.

If you studied French, you were likely introduced to author Marcel Proust and his famous masterwork, “A la Recherche du Temps Perdue,” translated as “In Search of Lost Time” or, more commonly, “Remembrance of Things Past.” He writes of a smell from his childhood that evoked deep, forgotten memories. This process of involuntary memory may occur at odd moments, in reverie, meditation, in night or day dreamtime. We may hold on to memories from sentimentality or an uncomfortable sense of unresolved issues, neither useful in a time of such unprecedented change as we are now experiencing. We can’t take this burdensome stuff into this fresh new era. We need to let go.

Whatever comes up for you must be processed in some way, without getting too obsessed about what has gone before. Let’s not stew in old juices. Maybe that was cheap perfume that we don’t like any more. Let go of any sense of grief, come into the Present, lift up your spirit, and engage life as it is NOW.

The Sabian Symbol for the Venus degree can help:
3 Scorpio— “Neighbors Help in a House-Raising Party in a Small Village”
This image shows folks joining together and building for the future— an excellent image for the practical earthiness of the North Node in Taurus that calls us. Venus, ruler of Taurus, embedded this Eclipse, is an ally that calls for enjoyment and pleasure in life. Ruler of Scorpio, she taps into our deepest desires, urging us to let go of anything less, to let go of disharmony in our lives and retune our emotions to the highest wavelengths of joy, happiness, confidence, peace and love that we can feel. What a gift to the world you can be when radiating those frequencies.

What the world needs now is Love, sweet Love,
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of.”

Listen to the classic by Jackie DeShannon.

While the Moon is waxing toward the Total Lunar Eclipse, we can shed layers of darkness and turn our hearts more fully into the Light. We are on a pilgrimage, as Pluto reminds us, holding steady at 27 Capricorn well into December— “A Mountain Pilgrimage” —as we continue our rugged collective journey of consciousness transformation and renewing the way we live on Earth. We are disengaging from an old world, based on greed, selfishness, hierarchical control and disdain for Nature, to create the New Earth, based on heart intelligence, life-affirming values and, most of all Love.

I happened to review a video from 2021 on Sky A’Hearn’s Leading with Light podcast, in which I discussed the March Equinox to June Solstice dynamics of that year. I was struck by the resonance of that time to this. The celestial choreography keeps us in the cosmic dance with few pauses! It was so interesting to look back on that time, when the Saturn/Uranus square was in full swing. Naturally I discussed that thoroughly, worthy of a listen now as we are revisiting that square for a final, deeper integration into our experience.

As I wrote last time:
A revisit of the Saturn-Uranus square highlights the social confrontation between the outmoded norms and the on-the-ground revolutionary verve shaking things up. There is no going back to what was ‘normal’ just a few years ago. This is the last hurrah of this struggle, that started with the last conjunction of these two planets in 1988. We seek to incorporate the best of both planets: Saturn can support effective ways to reframe our social context in this new era; Uranus awakens a grounded sense of living on Earth productively and sustainably. The ways in which we set up communities and social systems are already taking pragmatic shape, as we seek local self-reliance without disconnected government over-reach.

The upcoming eclipsing Full Moon in Taurus will be exactly conjunct Uranus, like a grand finale, indeed!

The last week in October is chock full of dynamics. Another sensation of ‘revisiting’ is indicated by Jupiter returning to its own sign Pisces from October 27 through most of December. Mars in Gemini reins in its galloping pace to go retrograde starting on the 30th and lasting into January of 2023!

Again I repeat what I wrote last time:
These two planets square each other during their shifts, suggesting unexpected developments that necessitate looking back to what has gone before, even to last eclipse season in April-May 2022. We find we may have been a bit hasty or moving on too quickly, and are called to tie up loose ends. Information likely becomes available that requires reconsideration of the larger situation, may alter our opinions and beliefs and offers new, positive options, not possible before this point, as we move forward into 2023.

Mercury joins the Scorpio roster on the 29th, adding more intensity with  subterranean information exposed to process like compost in this eclipse zone. Mercury and Venus both sandwich the Sun for the Total Lunar Eclipse on Tuesday, November 8. Who knows what will be happening by then!

Ready for a Deep Dive?
Some people can hold their breath for a long time; others wear an air tank when underwater. In these psychospiritual waters of Scorpio, I suggest taking deep breaths, filling belly, heart and lungs.
Fill your body with the Breath of Life and Ignite your Light!

[I’ll signal you down there for the Lunar Eclipse and then again when we resurface.]
