Depth Astrology, AstroMythology & the Cosmic Feminine

This Aries Full Moon is conjunct Shamanic Chiron while the Libra Sun conjuncts Venus, strong in its own sign. This suggests a critical turning point, consciousness shift, emotional healing and special relationship encounters. Pluto turns direct today, intensifying collective transformation.  Last year’s Saturn-Uranus square is closely active again. Things continue to change in radical ways, making ever so clear—yet again— that we are not ‘going back’ to how the world was. We are inventing a fresh way forward.

Note: Moons & Mythos #2, with Quantum Plant Healer, Davyd Farrell, is available, discussing this New/Full Moon cycle, an excellent accompaniment to Cosmic News. See the youtube video here.

An Aries Full Moon is a call to stand in your strength, in your integrity, loving and Being your Self, enhancing the quality of relationship. Chiron conjunct the Full Moon highlights this theme in a critical way. Too much compromise undermines our own energy and the energy of any relationship. It is a lack of respect to ourself and the other person.

It is also a turning point in our collective experience, as we face unprecedented times and hardly know how to proceed. Venus, conjunct the Sun in her own sign, knows: listen to your heart. Remember what I wrote last time:

“Venus, as ruler of Libra, has a strong say in this Moon cycle, especially close to the Sun and influential on the October 9 Full Moon. She is ready to dialogue, exchange ideas, negotiate, seek mutual agreements, heart to heart. All through this Moon cycle, with strong opposing energy from Aries, it is equally and essentially important to stand strong in your own center if you cannot agree with or accommodate others— kindly, not stridently.”

Venus is on the far side of the Sun, closest to the stars, invisible to us for many weeks. As this Moon wanes, on October 22, Venus will stand behind the Sun, shining her star-infused Grace and Beauty through the light of the Sun. This conjunction, called a Venus Star point by many astrologers, is one of the two times Venus is conjunct the Sun in its 584-day cycle. The other is when Venus is retrograde, closest to the Earth and between Earth and Sun.

There are many special things about this Venus Star in the last degree of Libra. Since the five Venus Star points move very slowly, this is the first one in Libra, Venus’ strong sign, since the 1800s. It is almost precisely conjunct KBO (Kuiper Belt Object) Haumea, the Hawai’ian deity of childbirth, in the ongoing dynamic with Pluto and Eris, active for the last several years.

Haumea, especially with the strengthened support of Venus, adding her love, grace, values, joy and satisfaction for a better world, is creating new potentials that roll over the outgoing undertow of….

Pluto as it deconstructs outmoded systems that hold back our collective wellbeing. Pluto turns direct today, holding steady at 27 Capricorn, “A Mountain Pilgrimage,” as we continue our rugged journey to new heights of accomplishment. Mercury, strong in Virgo, is a pragmatic support to Pluto, providing intelligent ways and means.

Feisty Eris, sister of Mars, exposes anything getting in the way of moving forward in integrity, initiative and trail-blazing courage. She brings up discordant issues so all points of view are aired, discussed, debated and taken into account, countering any tendency to compromise beyond a certain point. She is looking for the win-win in any situation.

Both Sun and Venus move into Scorpio on the 23rd, holding their conjunction for the partial solar eclipse on October 25, that begins the next lunar cycle with New and Full Moon eclipses.

The Libra/Scorpio changeover has interesting imagery connected to it. In the past, the two main stars of Libra’s Scales of Justice, Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschemali (my favorite star names!), were once seen as the extended claws of the Scorpion. The Arabic names mean the south and north claw (zuben). Those claws were said to hold a fragrant censer or lamp that sanctified the Sun or Moon or any planet passing through. Imagine Sun and Venus haloed together through that sanctified portal.

Yet again this month, and in cahoots with the Moon’s Nodes and the eclipses, the Saturn-Uranus square highlights the social confrontation between the outmoded norms and the on-the-ground revolutionary verve shaking things up. There is no going back to what was ‘normal’ just a few years ago. This is the last hurrah of this struggle, that started with the last conjunction of these two planets in 1988. We seek to incorporate the best of both planets: Saturn can support effective ways to reframe our social context in this new era; Uranus awakens a grounded sense of living on Earth productively and sustainably. The ways in which we set up communities and social systems are already taking pragmatic shape, as we seek local self-reliance without disconnected government over-reach.

By the end of the month, there is a feeling of ‘going back,’ as Mars in Gemini reins in its galloping pace to go retrograde through the rest of 2022. At the same time, Jupiter retrogrades back into Pisces for respite and review through December Solstice. These two planets square each other during their shifts, suggesting unexpected developments that necessitate looking back to what has gone before, even to last eclipse season in April-May. We find we may have been a bit hasty or moving on too quickly, and are called to tie up loose ends. Information likely becomes available that requires reconsideration of the larger situation, may alter our opinions and beliefs and offers new, positive options, not possible before this point, as we move forward into 2023.

This Full Moon,
informed by Chiron on the Moon and Venus on the Sun,
so closely impacted by the Venus Star point,
lights up extraordinary and unexpected potentials,
surprising and, according to Venus, delighting us.

With the Pluto/Eris influence and the upcoming eclipses,
there will be some contentious issues,
but the overall outcome,
though perhaps not immediately apparent,
will be more joyous and fulfilling.

Are you on board?
Stand up and be counted!
